Availability on inquiry
OPTIME is a Schaeffler product name. In the October 2026 OPTIME publication it is the wireless condition-monitoring part of a wider ecosystem that also includes smart lubrication. FEX is not Schaeffler, does not operate the OPTIME cloud, and does not claim to install or host that service.
The publication describes battery sensors OPTIME 3, OPTIME 5 and OPTIME 5 Ex, plus a gateway that sends data onward without requiring the sensors to join the plant IT network. It also names FAG OPTIME E-CM for electrical monitoring of AC motors from the motor cabinet. Standard, dynamic and high-dynamic measurement modes are described for machines with different running patterns, including a published container-crane note for the high-dynamic mode.
Figures below are selected from that publication so a buyer can see the order of magnitude. The device label and the current manual override this page. Ask FEX to check availability. Do not read the table as items held in an FEX warehouse.
Published figures
- OPTIME 3 speed guidance
- About 120 rpm (marked application-specific) to 3,000 rpm. Published targets include motors, generators, fans and pillow-block bearings.
- OPTIME 5 speed guidance
- Up to 5,000 rpm. Published targets include pumps, geared motors, small gearboxes, compressors and HVAC.
- Vibration bandwidth
- OPTIME 3: 2 Hz to 3 kHz. OPTIME 5: 2 Hz to 5 kHz.
- Sensor temperature trend
- −40 °C to +85 °C, as tabulated for the vibration sensors.
- Sensor enclosure and mounting
- IP69K. Mounting base AISI 316, polycarbonate housing, single M6 bolt. Amplitude ranges published as ±2 / ±4 / ±8 / ±16 g.
- Power and radio
- Non-replaceable Li-SOCl2 cell. Typical life up to 5 years depending on configuration. Wirepas Mesh, 2.4 GHz, up to 100 m line of sight. Commissioning by NFC.
- OPTIME 5 Ex
- The publication extends the sensor range into hazardous areas and lists ATEX/IECEx Zone 1/21. The marking on the device is the authority.
- FAG OPTIME E-CM
- Two-channel electrical monitoring for low and medium voltage AC motors, current about 1 to 400 A, voltage up to 500 V phase-to-phase or 300 V phase-to-neutral. Recommended above 100 rpm, with 30 seconds at constant speed and more than 20% duty. Cabinet installation is for a qualified electrician.
- Gateway
- Collects sensor data and provides cloud connectivity without requiring the sensors to be integrated into the IT/OT network. The publication states use in hazardous areas up to Zone 2/21.
Selected from the Schaeffler OPTIME publication, file poe_de_en.pdf, issued October 2026. Confirm before any purchase or installation.
What to include
- Machine type, speed range, hours of continuous running, and hazardous-area zone.
- How many measurement points, and whether lubrication monitoring is wanted as well.
- Who would install sensors and who would own the cloud tenant. FEX does not assume either role on this page.
