Port equipment
Slewing bearings, pulley and wheel bearings, and condition monitoring for cranes and continuous handlers.
Ship-to-shore cranes, yard cranes, loaders and conveyor pulleys are heavy, intermittent machines. Slewing bearings carry overturning moment. Spherical and tapered roller bearings carry pulleys, wheels and booms. The designation is usually on the crane maker’s drawing, and that drawing is the right starting point.
The OPTIME publication describes a high-dynamic measurement mode for machines that run only briefly, and it mentions a container-crane example. That is the manufacturer’s published experience. It is not an FEX installation and it does not name a terminal FEX supplies.
What to include
- Crane or conveyor model, and the bearing or sheave position.
- Slewing bearing gearing, bolt pattern and moment, if a drawing exists.
- How many hours a day the motion actually runs.
- Hazardous area, if any, before asking about a sensor.
